TRIP 1 – INTO THE SOUTH
ŠIBENIK – SOLTA, HVAR, VIS
A Gastronomic Adventure Through the Maldives of Europe
With its turquoise waters, myriad islands to explore, and beautiful bays and beaches, Croatia truly is the Eldorado for yachting enthusiasts everywhere. Here at Splendid Yachting, we’ve been committed to providing unforgettable Adriatic holidays with peerless service since 2014.
DAY 1. ROGOZNICA
After settling into your yacht, you’ll sail for the beautiful city of Rogoznica. Moor in the conveniently-located city harbour, right in front of the Antonio restaurant (which supplies both electricity and fresh water), or head over to Frapa Marina. Rogoznica is a fantastic location for fine food and pumping nightlife, and never fails to make a lasting impression on visitors.
The city features plenty of supermarkets, traditional bakeries and butchers, and a charming market located over the bridge to the mainland. You’ll have the chance to explore the Old Town on the peninsula, where you can discover the beautiful renaissance church, where the ancient site of Heraclea is believed to have stood.
DAY 2. MASLINICA
Today is all about drifting at leisure, and taking in some of southern Croatia’s most spectacular sights. On the way to Šolta, you’ll stop over in Krknjaši bay on the island of Veliki Drvenik – a trip of approximately 22 nautical miles. Here’s your chance to swim in the iconic turquoise waters, and enjoy some Caribbean-style snorkelling, too! Once moored, you will find yourself in Konoba Krknjaši, where a seawater pool and freshly caught and cooked lobster awaits. The owner, Dragica, also loves treating guests to her own fresh fruit, vegetables, wine, and olive oil, all produced in this gorgeous location.
Thoroughly refreshed, you’ll then continue on your journey to Šolta. You’ll come to rest at the exclusive marina resort of Martinis Marchi, where an opulent gourmet restaurant in a converted Venetian palace hotel will welcome you. Marina Martinis Marchi is widely regarded as the most beautiful in all of Croatia – we’ve no doubt you’ll join countless others who have fallen in love with it.
DAY 3. JELSA
From Maslinica you will continue on your voyage to Jelsa. One of Croatia’s most picturesque fishing villages, Jelsa abounds with pretty cafes along the harbour, each of which has plenty to offer those seeking to soak up the atmosphere. We’d highly recommend the Me & Mrs Jones restaurant, located directly on the promenade, and famed for its fantastic pizza and seafood menu. Those who make reservations are welcome to moor their yacht directly in front of the restaurant, too!
If you’re seeking a truly memorable culinary experience, book a table at the Tomic Winery. Local vintner Andro Tomic learnt his trade at the finest wineries of Provence before returning home to Jelsa, and his beautiful winery is home to some of the region’s finest bottles and accompanying gastronomic delights.
DAY 4. HVAR | MARINA PALMIŽANA
Your trip will take you around the northernmost tip of Hvar, and onwards to Marina Palmižana on Pakleni Island. A true botanical paradise, surrounded by pristine turquoise waters, this island is home to a range of fine restaurants which vary from the cosy and homely to the artistic and elegant. On the other side of the island, you can find the popular bay of Vinogradiše, where locals and tourists alike love to bathe. During the daytime, we’d advise checking out Beach Club Laganini – a stunning on-trend place to chill and pass the time.
At the club, you’ll enjoy a blissed-out soundtrack accompanied by the finest drinks and snacks, but if you fancy something more substantial, the Zori restaurant at the end of the bay is highly recommended. You’ll be able to enjoy outstanding cuisine and service on a gorgeous sun-baked terrace, where huge palm trees provide shade, and the superb staff cater to your every need.
DAY 5. VIS
From Marina Palmižana, you’ll head north to Vis Town on the island of Vis itself. This island is beloved for the fact that, in comparison to many of its neighbouring islands, it still remains pristine and untouched by tourism. With a plethora of original farms featuring some of the protected species of the Dalmatian region, it’s an island that exudes rustic charm, where time seems to stand still. Vis is the island’s capital, and sits in a large bay on the north of the island. Here, you can find some splendid restaurants, great shopping opportunities, and a place to refuel should you need to.
In Kut, in the southern part of the bay, there is a large and secure buoy field. It’s the ideal place to moor, and you will be able to head into town and uncover all of the delights on offer. Among them is the fish restaurant Pojoda, which is a must-visit stop for all seafood lovers.
DAY 6. KAPRIJE KUNJKE
Ever wanted to live out your own Robinson Crusoe fantasy? This isolated and dreamy bay provides your perfect chance! On this day, you’ll head to the island archipelago of Šibenik and the island of Kaprije. The north-east of the island features the famed Medoš Bay, where Konoba Kod – probably Croatia’s most beautiful tavern – can be found. The host, the ever-charming Bernhard, will be only too happy to keep a berth free for you on your own floating dock upon arrival!
Guests will adore dining on the local speciality, peka, which is meat or octopus cooked beneath a cast iron bell. Alternatively, there will be a host of freshly-caught specialities on offer, ideal for fish-lovers on the hunt for culinary perfection.
DAY 7. TRIBUNJ
Your final day will involve sailing to Tribunj, a dreamy fishing village with a beautifully-landscaped marina, found just a few nautical miles away. From your berth in the marina, you’ll be able to stroll into the charming Old Town of Tribunj, connected to the mainland by a small bridge. Should you be in town on August 1st, you’ll be able to enjoy the town’s annual Mule Race – a fun-filled event that never fails to draw a crowd!
The final day of your trip deserves an unforgettable night out, soaking up the nightlife of this part of the country. The holiday resort of Vodice is just half an hour’s walk away, and you’ll be able to relax in one of the many trendy bars or beach clubs, before dancing the night away in the Hacienda; an open-air disco that attracts the region’s leading DJs and international jet-setters.
